Family Literacy Training:

Session 1:  Parents Make a Difference: 

• A heart-mind connection is made by the trainer

• They hear an awe inspiring story

• A foundation is laid  for the next series of sessions

• Parents acquire skills to have a direct impact on their child’s education

• Parents learn how to support literacy at home

• Evidenced based strategies are taught and practiced utilizing effective methodologies.

 Session 2:  Parents as Executive Director: 

• Empowering parents in reclaiming their role as their “First and Primary” teacher

• Acquiring skills in building positive / constructive collaboration with their child’s teachers and school

• Effectively collaborating and interdependently work with their child’s teacher

• Learn how to prepare for meetings and conferences. 

• Learn effective evidenced based strategies in communicating with the teacher 

• Learn how to follow up with their teachers

• strategies to have a direct impact on student achievement and accountability 

 

Session 3: Creating a Home Learning Center 

• Establish a home learning center in their home

• Making homework a priority for their children

• Acquire a desktop computer and a valuable tool kit as vital tools for their home learning center
